Tesla Has Increased The Price Of Full Self Driving Software.

As per recent reports, Tesla has decidedly increased the price of its “Full Self-Driving” software upgrade option. The price has been increased to $10,000. This latest hike in price was first revealed by the company’s founder and CEO Elon Musk.

The company has already staged a roll-out of the beta version of the update last week. This has now boosted the price of the package $2,000 from its price before today. The price has been steadily increasing since last May.

For quite some time, Tesla has made the FSD option available as an optional add-on which was meant to complement Tesla’s Autopilot driver-assistance technology.

However, these features were not made available to Tesla owners before the launch of the beta. Even still, the feature is only in limited beta. To note here, this is the closest Tesla has come towards actually launching something under the FSD mark.

Contrary to what the name might suggest, FSD is quite different from the usual Level 4 or Level 5, autonomy (as per the standards defined by SAE International). The FSD is something that fiddles with the word autonomous.

The FSD has been designed as a feature that will allow vehicles “to be autonomous but requiring supervision and intervention at times”. On the other hand, Level 4 and Level 5 systems do not require any input from the driver.

As it comes, the early user feedback has turned out to be positive. This validates the fact that the tech on display does have some impressive features.

Musk has stated that the FSD  technology will most likely be out of the beta program by the end of the year. While issuing that statement, he did seem very confident in his tech’s reliability and performance.

The price increase is another signal that Musk and his company have faith in their new tech. Like always, Musk has continued to maintain that users will be getting a discount if they hand over money to Tesla early.

According to Musk, this financial support will help Tesla in developing its technology further. Thus, it is understandable why the price has been increased. This will also help Tesla boost its revenue stream.
