On 14 October 2020, the Assam Rifles apprehended 3 Naga terrorists from the Jairampur area in Arunachal Pradesh. Among the three terrorists apprehended, two are from the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muviah) abbreviated as NSCN (IM) and one is from the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang Yung Aung) faction.
In an official statement by Assam Rifles, they said, “Assam Rifles successful operation in Arunachal Pradesh leads to apprehension of two high ranking NSCN (IM) cadres and one NSCN (K-YA) cadre from general area Jairampur, on 14 October. Apprehended(detainees) handed over to the police.”
Just one day before that, on 13 October 2020, the Assam Rifles apprehended 4 more cadres of Naga insurgent group NPGN/NNC from Kohima. Arms and ammunitions were also recovered from the apprehended terrorists. The NSCN (IM) is currently engaged in peace talks with the Indian government and is going through a ceasefire period.
The Naga Peace Talks are expected to end by late 2021, if the Naga groups would give up on the demand for separate flag and constitution. The Naga Peace talks might come out to be of no use, if the separatist organisations don’t respect the unity and integrity of the Indian union.
