On Thursday, Malda in West Bengal saw yet another massive bomb blast in a bomb-making centre in Sujapur. The Sujapur area falls under the Kaliachowk Police Station’s jurisdiction. The police have begun their initial investigation in the matter. However, the BJP unit in West Bengal and the Governor of Bengal have both blamed the ruling TMC for this.
The BJP MP from North Malda Khogen Murmu said, “The intensity of the blast makes it clear that it is not any normal accident. Only a huge cache of explosives could cause such a strong blast. We demand a NIA investigation of the whole incident.”
The incident took place in a plastic factory in Sujapur. It has been accused that the persons involved were manufacturing bombs inside the plastic factory. Due to the blast, the roof of the factory got uprooted. A big hole formed down in the ground after the blast.
The police said that 5 people have died in the incident and 5 more are being treated as they are in a critically serious condition. Four of the dead persons were identified as Rajeib Khanan, Mustafa Sheikh, Ajijur Rahman and Abdul Rahman. The injured have been identified as Pramila Mandal, Juli Beua, Julekha Bibi, Abu Sahed and Musa Sheikh. 3 of them were brought dead and two more died in the hospital.
Asking the Mamata government to act against illegal bomb makers, the Governor of Bengal tweeted on Thursday, “Anguished at deaths in reported blast that ripped establishment apart at Sujapur area of Malda district. According to SP five killed & five injured. Time for Mamata Banerjee to proactively contain illegal bomb making and ensure professional non-partisan investigations.”
