5-year-old Hathras Rape Victim Dies At Delhi Hospital.

The five-year-old girl, who was raped by her 15-year-old cousin in Aligarh around ten days ago, died on Monday. According to the police, the girl died when she was undergoing treatment in Delhi.

Police have already arrested the accused, and now he is charged with murder in addition to rape. The incident transpired in a village under Iglas police station in Aligarh.

The girl was from the Sadabad area of Hathras district. However, she had been living with her maternal aunt for a few years now. According to the police, the victim’s mother died a few years ago.

According to media reports, the girl was held captive at the house following the incident. The girl was rescued on September 17 after a social organisation intervened. Following her rescue, the girl was admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

But soon her condition worsened. Thus, the doctors had to shift the girl to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. But sadly, she was beyond saving. According to SSP Aligarh Muniraj G, an FIR was registered against the accused on September 21 after the police station received a complaint from the victim’s father.

According to the father, his daughter was raped in captivity. Upon receiving the complaint, the police arrested the 15-year-old relative who later on confessed to his crime.

“The boy’s mother, who is the maternal aunt of the victim, is reported to be an accomplice in the crime and is absconding,” the SSP said.

Praveen Kumar Mann, the station house officer of Iglas police station, was later on suspended by SSP Aligarh after the victim’s family members staged a protest outside the station.

“A financial relief of Rs 10 lakh has been granted to the family of the victim, and a case has been registered against the cousin and his mother,” stated Aligarh district magistrate Chandra Vijay Singh.

“SHO Praveen Kumar Maan has also been suspended as he failed to arrest the aunt who took the minor victim girl along with her and failed to protect her,” stated Muniraj G.

The incident closely follows the alleged gang-rape of a Dalit woman in Hathras by four upper-caste men.
