On Friday, the Indian Army shared the video footage from an anti-terror operation that took place in Jammu and Kashmir on social media. In the video, one can see a terrorist surrendering to the Army personnel.
“Jahangir, we are requesting you to drop your weapons and surrender. We have cordoned off the place where you are hiding. I assure nothing will happen to you,” the Army personnel can be heard saying in the released video.
“Surrender for the sake of God, for the sake of your family,” the soldier said. The terrorist has been identified as Jahangir Bhat. In the video, the soldiers can be heard agreeing upon not to fire at Jahangir when he started to progress towards the Army personnel slowly.
“Is there anybody else? Is there any weapon? Come to this side,” the soldiers can be heard saying when Jahangir decided to come out of his hideout wearing only a pair of trousers.
“Give him water. Please maintain some distance. Please be quiet. Leave your jersey. Nothing will happen to you. You have done a great job,” the soldiers said while trying to calm Jahangir as he walked towards the security forces attempting to surrender.
In another video, one can see Jahangir’s father interacting with the security forces. “Tell your son he has done a great job. All his past mistakes will be forgotten. But do not let him go with the terrorists again,” security personnel told the father.
Jahangir Bhat is a 31-year-old shopkeeper who hails from Chadoora. As per reports, he went missing from Chadoora on 13th October. The Army, on Friday, apprehended him while he was in the possession of one AK rifle.
On Friday morning, a fierce gunfight broke out in Chadoora between the terrorists and the security forces. Soon, the mobile internet service was suspended in Budgam. After the joint operation ended, the internet service was restored to normalcy.
